A Successful Year Helping Tennessee Students
Amidst all the struggles the 2020-21 school year presented, we consider Homework Hotline’s academic year a success! We found that students used Hotline’s services more, and tutoring sessions lasted longer. Students used Hotline on average 3.5 times this year (over 2.5 times last year) and were on the phone on average 29.7 minutes (over 23.4 minutes last year).
During the 2020-21 school year, Hotline tutors:
- Provided 9,393 quality, one-on-one tutoring sessions
- Served 3,436 Tennesseans (2,653 students; 783 parents/guardians)
- Spent 4,651 hours tutoring students (compared to only 4,431 hours during the 2019-20 school year)
- 7.2% of students used Hotline 10+ times (compared to 3.7% in 2019-20)
- 93.7% of sessions ended with students expressing understanding or completing assignments
- 68.6% of sessions with post-test given ended with students proving mastery
- 9.1% of students identified as speaking a language other than English at home and completed 11.3% of total sessions
Coming out of a tumultuous year in education, the 2021-22 school year calls for strong, reliable, academic support for students struggling with their schoolwork. Hotline remains committed to being a FREE, accessible resource for all K-12 Tennessee students. So, for the many K-12 Tennessee students and families who don't have the luxury of hiring a private tutor due to tutoring's high costs or a lack of transportation, you can help ensure these students succeed!
AS LITTLE AS:
- $10 can provide a 20-minute tutoring session for a Tennessee student asking for help
- $20 covers the cost of a tutor’s telephone extension for one month
- $50 offsets the printing of 2,000 binder inserts used as promotional items distributed to school districts
- $100 provides one tutor’s stipend for one night
Your support ensures that K-12 Tennessee students and their parents have access to patient, caring, certified or retired teachers who will work with them until comprehension is reached. Students who receive this quality support are able to return to school more prepared and confident in their skills.
